The Yankton Sioux Tribe of Marty, South Dakota is fighting Longview Corporation’s construction of a hog facility on non-Indian fee land within the reservation, which will produce over 70,000 pigs annually. In two weeks since April 15th, 38 Tribal members were arrested by state law enforcement while peacefully blocking construction on a BIA road. Most tribal members are opposed to the construction and are unaware of any consultation with the tribe for environmental permits.

ok now this ridiculous. This problem has been around for some time now.
They first tried to put the hog farm near where i live and it dint go through cause the people with money here shoved them out.i wish the same for those in S.D.
The hog farmers need to understand enough is enough. And the police should be more understanding… realizing the people are only defending that which the Creator made that is good.
I don’t understand why these hog farmers can’t put the thing in their own back yard, near their own families, near their own eyes and ears and spirit. So they can smell it, hear it and see what it does to the soil, air and to ones life. It’s not even good for the hog! poor things!
I haven’t ate pork since this whole thing began and i am not about to now.
If everyone could do this.. maybe they’d be put out a few bucks and realize they are hurting people.
We are more than human. We are part of land.. the blood, sweat and tears of people are on land. If we do not protect it and the people, it will slowly die. To save the land is to also save ourselves. If we allow greed to take over everything, there will be nothing left to save.
I hope for all goodness in this matter.
    melinda.
